Applying & Paying For An Open Burn Permit Online

Please take a moment to assure a trouble-free online payment experience. Please review the points below and then select the “continue” button.

Let’s Begin…

Thank you for choosing the online payment option for an open burn permit. Online payment is optional. You may also pay by mail, or in-person at our office during business hours.

Payment Options

When paying online you may use American Express, Discover, Visa debit/credit card, and MasterCard debit/credit card.   If paying in person you may use these plus cash, check and "tap to pay" devices.  The online payment service is provided by “GovPay” and a small service fee applies. You will be taken from our site to the site www.govpaynow.com for the payment transaction. The NoSoCo Air is not given any of your confidential credit card information.

Your Burn Must be Located in our District.

Remember, there are two air districts in Sonoma county and this open burn permit application is only for burn projects within the Northern Sonoma County Air pollution Control District. You can verify that a project is in the NoSoCo Air by typing its address into the map application on our home page.

Permit Application

To apply or renew an Open Burn Permit you will need to provide us with information regarding your property and what will be burned. Existing permit holders be sure to have your permit number available and it enter into the “account #” field on the permit form. New permit holders enter “new” into this field and we will assign you a number.

Turn around Time

You will immediately receive a receipt for payment, but this is not the permit. The permit will follow in 2-4 business days because we must manually verify various items of the application. You will be sent a PDF version of your permit by e-mail. *Please be careful to accurately enter your e-mail address.  If you pay in person you may receive your permit immediately.
