District Formation

On August 17, 1971, the need for an air pollution control district for northern Sonoma County pursuant to CA Health and Safety Code was affirmed by the County of Sonoma with Resolution #34069.  Included in the resolution is the specific boundary description of the District.  The Clean Air Act of 1970 created a mandate for every state to draft and submit a state implementation plan (SIP) with statewide coverage detailing how they would meet National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).

Resolution #34069

Policies

We are currently updating and re-formatting existing District policies into compliant PDF formats and adopting new policies on an ongoing basis as necessary to provide clarity and efficiency in day-to-day District operations.

Policy on Policies

A top-level District policy that establishes the framework for District policy development, approval, implementation, review, and maintenance, including the respective roles of the Board of Directors and the APCO.  This provides the operational toolset for the District to systematically address policy gaps or revisions, ensuring ongoing consistency, improved public service, and liability mitigation without delaying routine administrative updates.
